Chapter 49
01, Stop
Facing the bewildered and astonished gazes of the Lu family, Lin Nannan wiped her sweaty forehead and said nonchalantly, "Can’t you just figure this out by thinking?"
"Just by thinking?" Lu Ming muttered, utterly baffled. He felt as though his sister-in-law was basically calling him brainless.
In truth, the entire Lu family was speechless, jaws on the floor. The situation was simply too unbelievable.
Lin Nannan being literate wasn’t surprising, but the fact that she had created something that moved smoothly on its own—without needing anyone to push it—was beyond comprehension. As for the slight bumpiness Lin Nannan complained about, they completely ignored it.
This alone was mind-blowing—they couldn’t imagine anything better...
"Can A Hang sit in this wheelchair?" Grandma Lu snapped out of her amazement and asked curiously.
"Wanna test it out?" Lin Nannan stood up and suggested.
"Sister-in-law, let me try first!" Lu Ming bounced on his toes, dying to give it a go.
Pan Xiaoping’s fingers itched to whack him. "You’ve got legs! Back off!"
"Mom, this wheelchair is so incredible! What’s wrong with me trying it? Sister-in-law barely took it for a spin!" Lu Ming spoke earnestly, but his excited eyes betrayed him.
The lame excuse had Pan Xiaoping seeing red, but Lin Nannan agreed.
"Go ahead and try. To stop, press here..." She demonstrated briefly. Lu Ming plopped down—and promptly lost control. In his excitement, the wheelchair zoomed forward—*whoosh!* He yelped, *“Ahhh—!”*
The rest of the Lu family was equally alarmed. Pan Xiaoping dove for the wheelchair, but its speed made it impossible to catch.
"Lu Ming, stop!" Lu Zheng shouted in concern.
Lu Ming flailed, *“Make it stop!”*
His earlier eagerness had turned into sheer panic. He had dared to try it because his sister-in-law had been so calm and cool when demonstrating it, but now the wheelchair wouldn’t obey him. In his flustered state, he completely forgot how to operate it.
As he screamed, the Lu family rushed to intercept the wheelchair. But since it was designed for Lu Hang, it had obstacle-avoidance functions. Instead of stopping, the wheelchair weaved through them like a possessed thing, making Lu Ming howl even louder in his frantic state.
Lin Nannan dragged a hand down her face, finally calling out in exasperation, "Command 01, stop!"
The wildly careening wheelchair came to an abrupt halt. Lu Ming pitched forward, barely catching himself.
"A Ming!" Pan Xiaoping and the others rushed over, asking if he was okay. Lu Ming jumped up, waving his arms to show he was unharmed.
"Si-sister-in-law!" Lu Yuan gaped at Lin Nannan. *“You—you stopped it!”*
The Lu family had been too focused on Lu Ming to notice, but at Lu Yuan’s incredulous tone, they all turned their attention to Lin Nannan. Her stomach dropped—she wanted to tell Lu Yuan to stay quiet—but it was too late. "Sister-in-law *commanded* it to stop—and it *did*!" Lu Yuan exclaimed excitedly.
